MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2007 is fast coming to a close but not before we experienced a lot of success and tried many new ideas with your input in NWCA this year.
The November meeting is one of our most important of the year because it will go a long ways in determining the success of 2008. We will devote some time to the election of officers and hearing from those interested in being part of the leadership team in 08'. If you are considering running for one of the elected offices and having a direct impact on the Chapter, now is the time to make your interest known. Please let either Bob or myself know if you are interested.
We grew our membership by more than a third this year to over 130, and Bob will need a great leadership team to help continue the growth and commitment to growing the coaching profession into the future in our chapter.
Don't forget the ICF annual meeting in Long Beach starting October 31st, and I hope to see everyone at our meeting November 13th.
Best regards, Dave Wagers NWCA 2007 President
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT-ELECT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Coaches "Go One Step Beyond"
One of the many benefits of interaction with the "International" Coach Federation (ICF) is the intentional exposure to new growth opportunities in the realm of coaching with a global flavor. Arun Waklhu, a coach from Pune, India, will speak in Long Beach Nov 1, 2nd on our "Wholistic" Connection. In brief, it's a stretching inward process. "Going One Step Beyond" our Western comfort zones (read limits) of "normalcy" and exploring our intrinsic connectedness to life on a deeper, richer level of awareness. Wow, heavy stuff! But oh so important!
Today many of our clients are spiritually hungry, perhaps spiritually starving, in a land of material security and abundance. They may not be aware of this inner restlessness or brokenness. If our own wholeness becomes apparent, evident, creative and generative for others, it will manifest itself in attractive ways to others (our clients). Thus a coach brings healing, wholeness and a deeper experience of humanity to the coaching banquet. Easy? Not at all! Worthwhile? Ask the masters. Start the journey. Non habet, non dabet - if we don't have it, we can't give it, as coaches. "Go One Step Beyond."
This is one session I hope to attend while at ICF Conference Oct 31 to Nov 3rd. Perhaps other NWCA members will explore and bring back other coaching treasurers to enrich us all and especially all whom we serve in this exciting profession.
"Desire creates the power." Raymond Holliwell

MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ALERT! Special Election Main Meeting at 7 PM
We will have a very full schedule during our meeting on November 13th. Not only do we have two fabulous speakers, but we will be discussing elections of the Leadership Team for 2008.
We will need to cut our networking time short by 15 minutes and begin our Main Program at 7:00 p.m.. This will give time for the Leadership Team members of 2007 to discuss their roles, answer any questions you may have, and hear from those interested in being part of the Team for 2008!
Please plan on returning early from the networking session for this one time event.
Warm regards, Kay Fontana Secretary 2007
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PRE-MEETING WORKSHOP (5:45 p.m.)
Fearless Living: Turning Expectations into Intentions
Description: Expectations will eat you alive. We are under constant pressure to be, do, or have something other than what presently exists. When left unchecked, expectations will undermine the work we do on ourselves and with our clients. Intentions shift perspectives, open up the seeds of possibility, and produce immediate personal growth and transformation.
In a fun and interactive presentation, the group will:
- Learn the language of expectations
- Uncover expectations you didn't know you had
- Build a fearless intention statement
Guest Speaker: Joseph Lyons, MBA, has been practicing Fearless Living tools for several years. Practicing what he coaches, Joseph knows how deeply fear terminates action and draws power out of personal goals. Having transformed his own career, relationships, health, and lifestyle, Joe has learned tools and skills to master fear for both himself and his clients. Joseph's background includes substantial work with computers, historic cemeteries, and theater - and he's thrilled to do the opposite: coach people - alive and real.
LEADERSHIP TEAM Q&A (7:00 p.m.)
Learn what it takes to serve on the NWCA Leadership Team and how you can contribute to the success of the organization. Come prepared with questions and hear how the voting process will take place.
MAIN PROGRAM (7:15 p.m.)
Emotional Intelligence and Profitable Dialogue
Description: Susan Zabriskie, M.A., will discuss the topic of Emotional Intelligence (EI) assessments as coaching tools. She will be presenting information on EI and how the emotional brain learns and responds, and how EI impacts performance at work and in our personal lives. Susan will demonstrate how empathy can be used as a coaching tool. With her knowledge of emotional literacy, connecting to others through empathic sensing of feeling and needs will also be presented.
Guest Speaker: Susan Zabriskie has more than 20 years experience in education and training across a wide spectrum of business and public sectors. She is the owner of PerformanceWorks LLC, an independent performance consulting firm and is a certified Emotional Intelligence Consultant and Trainer. Susan consults with business and medical professionals to improve performance, team building, leadership and management skills. Through the use of Profitable Dialogue (TM), a powerful communication model, she helps individuals and organizations reduce conflict and develop a more positive workplace climate .
Sincerely, Programs Team: Colleen Bourassa Feroshia Knight
