MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wagers 2 WHATS ON YOUR AGENDA FOR THIS FALL?
Have you noticed that the days are getting shorter and the temperature slightly cooler as each day passes? I hope you had an enjoyable and productive summer and are thinking of ways to take your practice to a new and higher level as fall approaches.
We tried something new for the NWCA August meeting by hosting a BBQ to get everyone out doors and having time to just network and be social. There was a little confusion with the location being moved, but most everyone found it and had a great time with some wonderful food and snacks. I met at least five attendees that had not been to any of our meetings or events in the past.
As we move into the early fall we have planned a number of exciting speakers and events to help you build your skills or increase your practice.
Don't forget the ICF Annual Conference being held in Long Beach, California this year October 31 to November 3rd. I believe we have several members that will be attending the event so get your registration in soon.
I look forward to seeing you at our meeting on September 11th.
Best regards,
Dave Wagers
NWCA 2007 President
Harnessing NWCA Passion and Innovation with LAUGHTER
Recently I was digesting pages and pages of notes from the June 27th Leadership Team brainstorming session for chapter direction in 2008. What struck me was the amount and depth of passion and innovation that boiled over from our fellow coaches. Many of these faces were not present in a similar coach planning session in 2003, but the zeal and creative energy were the same. The key was LAUGHTER.
"Probably the number one clue that creativity and transformational thinking are happening is laughter. Laughter and fun free the mind from barriers and restrictions." Joyce Wycoff
So as we plow through the final lazy days of summer fun, check your "laughter gauge." Are you consciously creating a laughter level in your practice? The power of laughter is both liberating and lubricating. It greases the essential wheels of cleaner communication and frees up the friction and resistance to change that is often a major blockage to growth.
As we meet together at NWCA to feed both the passion and the innovation of our individual and group coaching realities, let us not forget to call upon the creative magic of laughter to enrich the many lives we touch and in the process become richer ourselves.
Pres Elect 2008
PRE-MEETING WORKSHOP (5:45 p.m.)
Master your Mind, and Leverage your Brain for Change
Description: How would it be if you were the Master of your Mind? NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, is the user's guide for the brain. Does progress seem like moving 3 steps forward and 2 steps back? NLP processes can help you make change quickly and effectively, with results that last a lifetime. By understanding basic psychology and NLP tools, you can choose how you want to be and feel in any situation, all you have to do is set it up before you get there. Learn the basics to mastering your mind, and leveraging your brain for change with powerful processes of NLP. This presentation is interactive with hands-on experiential workshop time.
In this presentation, you will learn:
  • How the brain stores and processes information
  • How the brain creates associations, and then uses this information as reference for future situations (whether good or bad).
  • How incorporating more brain "information centers" will help clients get better results
  • How our internal program (our past) affects our reactions, interactions, choices, and behaviors.
  • How to access states of mind and set theses states for future situations
  • How to "future pace" change so that when you encounter the situation again, your brain remembers a more appropriate or preferred response.
Program Deliverables:
Participants will walk away from this presentation understanding how the brain stores and processes information and how to use this to leverage the change and progress they are making with clients. They will also learn how to set up a new response pattern for a future situation, so that when the new situation is encountered, they will remember a new response. Basic materials include a brain map with worksheet with reminder steps for a basic NLP process that they can use with clients.
Guest Speaker: Holly Stokes, Dreambuilder, is a Master Certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner, Certified Coach, and Certified Hypnotherapist. Through Coaching, Classes, and Workshops, she helps clients create deep level change and self-mastery, move beyond old obstacles, and achieve their dreams. She is passionate about sharing the tools of applied psychology that can release clients from the past, increase focus and performance, and make their dreams reality.
MAIN PROGRAM (7:15 p.m.)
Discover and practice innovative energy psychology techniques to help your clients blast through blocks and achieve unparalleled success.
Description: In his presentation, Howard Brockman, LCSW, will provide a brief conceptual map explaining how and why Dynamic Energetic Healing® works so effectively and rapidly for resolving problems (i.e.-stuckness) and achieving optimal performance. With an audience volunteer, he will demonstrate how Dynamic Energetic Healing® is implemented and entertain questions from the audience that are generated from the demonstration.
His focus will be on teaching participants the following four points:
  • Two energy balancing exercises for ensuring excellent mind/body integration
  • Psychoenergetic reversal, a key self-sabotaging block to achieving success
  • One specific technique designed to neutralize psychoenergetic reversal
  • One specific energy psychology strategy that can be self-administered for resolving anxiety problems, depressed mood and limiting beliefs
Guest Speaker: Howard Brockman, LCSW, is a psychotherapist in private practice with over 26-years of clinical experience (as of 2007). He is a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work as well as in Comprehensive Energy Psychology and Director of Dynamic Energetic Healing International, a premier training program for transformational change. He has a master's degree in Social Ethics/Religious Studies from the University of Southern California and a master's degree in Social Work from Portland State University. He also has 20 years experience in Kundalini Yoga and meditation practices. With extensive training in process-oriented psychology, core shamanism (since 1981) and energy psychology, he has created a unique synthesis of psychospiritual healing methods that awakens the power of applied human consciousness. These methods come together powerfully in Dynamic Energetic Healing®. DEH® is an energy-based psychotherapy model that is a blend of three unique healing modalities. These include energy psychology strategies, core shamanic practices and process-oriented psychology. Behavioral kinesiological applications are used throughout the work. Clients are taught to easily recruit their own pre-existing spiritual resources as a way to empower themselves outside of the therapy session. Dynamic Energetic Healing® is remarkably effective in assisting clients to release and permanently eliminate old and binding trauma that is usually the unidentified source of persistent depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties. This includes identifying blocks to personal achievement. Additionally, these energetic strategies are uniquely successful in the implementation of optimal performance outcomes. This model creatively integrates ancient spiritual healing practices with modern psychotherapy. Howard has presented internationally and has done numerous radio interviews about his work. His book, Dynamic Energetic Healing: Integrating Core Shamanic Practices With Energy Psychology Applications and Processwork Principles, has won four awards for excellence in psychology/mental health and health/self-help. Howard is married with two sons and two Samoyeds. He enjoys hiking the Columbia Gorge whenever he can. He resides in Salem, Oregon.
