MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bob Renggli "Letting Our Core Competencies Shine"
Every president needs a unifying theme. A presidential theme tends to be that special linkage which makes every effort of the entire group shine with purpose and meaning.
We all know what makes a pro athlete rise to the top: discipline and practice. Every sport from Golf to Basketball builds on the fundamentals unique to that particular execution of performing excellence. A successful sports coach builds on basics and engages creatively. The key is in the consistent execution of fundamentals.
So it is with our world of applying Life and Business Fundamentals (Core Competencies) to the myriad of life experiences beyond the world of sports. It's simple yet immensely complex. The hunger, the need, the very complexity of living life excellently in our 21st Century simply cries out for more coaching beyond High School or College diplomas. Simply put, rote training and passive consulting leave clients or organizations inadequately adapted to changing circumstances fast enough to survive in our rapidly changing world. Coaching has now become imperative at so many levels of successful living on our planet. Coaches of our generation are privileged to be on the forefront of this amazing global awakening.
At NWCA in the upcoming year, we will grasp every opportunity to raise our personal and collective awareness of the truth and practice of our ICF endorsed Eleven Core Competencies. Why? "For what it will make of us". The stronger and more consciously competent we are as individual coaches and as a gathering of local coaches, the greater impact we will have on our communities. Raising the tide of coaching expectations, standards and measurable deliverables is truly a group effort. That's the "Why" of NWCA. No one person can do this alone. We truly need each other.
Greater coaching competency will brighten our world, will be a shining star of human excellence that will cause folks to say: "I want some of that"! "How did you do that?" And our answer will be: "I hired a coach". And the common validation and assurance of coaching competency will be at root, the training and certification of those Core Competencies.
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT-ELECT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
May positive change be with you.

With the turning of yet another year, I am finding myself reflecting on the power of relationship and how the support and love of many others has made life so desirable on so many levels. In the role of Vice President my hope is to create numerous avenues for each and everyone of us to cultivate rich relationships and learning opportunities that strengthen our own professional and personal growth. As coaches we hold the potential to manifest new realities as positive change agents in our own area of influence. Let NWCA be the place we we can all renew and stretch our own potential in 2008!

It is with great pleasure that I will be serving and playing with you all. Cheers to you and your family, friends and may 2008 be the best year ever!

Warmest Regards,

Feroshia Knight
NWCA President-Elect 2009

MESSAGE FROM THE PROGRAMS CHAIRS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New Year Greetings from the Programs Chairs!
We are excited for the opportunities to serve the NWCA community with a series of programs that our members want us to attract and bring to our meetings. We have some exciting ideas in store and trust that we will be faithful servants to the membership. Here are some of the key concepts that are working on:
  • ICF Core Competencies - We will be working to ensure that most presentations meet the 11 ICF Core Competencies. As an ICF Chapter, we are committed to ensuring that we focus on those fundamentals that the ICF has addressed as being central in the coaching business. To learn more, visit ICF Core Competencies.
  • Meeting Evaluations - We will be developing some consistent program evaluations to manage feedback on our speakers. We are committed to learning the NWCA member's candid responses to presenters so that we can hone and focus our commitment to meeting the member's desires.
  • NWCA Member Participation - As with previous meetings, we desire to encourage all members to conduct presentations with material that meets the training, skill building, and practice development goals of each meeting. We also encourage members to suggest and/or introduce potential speakers to the Programs Chairs.
We are also looking for additional opportunities to grow and expand the programs component for the NWCA. If you have ideas, comments, or suggestions for programs, please find us at a meeting or send us an email to let us know.
Sincerely,
Programs Team: Joey Lyons, Susan Schwarz, Julie Moraga
Along with my transition to Secretary, Marla Pallin will be taking on the role of Membership Chair. Marla already has a team in place to serve our membership for 2008, and you will have the chance to meet each of them as you arrive at our January 15th meeting.
