MESSAGE FROM THE NEW PRESIDENT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am both honored and excited about serving as your chapter president this year. The confidence you displayed in selecting me to serve will only multiply my efforts to help our chapter grow and support your efforts and the coaching profession in general.
These are big shoes to fill as our two most recent presidents, Ronnie and Vicky both provided the kind of leadership that has created excitement and energy for the whole group.
This is your chapter and the level of success we all enjoy will be directly attributable to your feedback and involvement. We want your input.
Some early objectives for 2007 include developing closer ties to the national coaches association through the ICF, continuing our efforts in offering CEU's and finding ways to help all of you prosper financially in your coaching practice.
We will be discussing other important goals at a leadership meeting in early January and ask you to make a special effort to attend the January 9th chapter meeting where we will be looking for your ideas, input and suggestions.
I want to thank our outgoing officers for 2006: Ronnie Noize - President, Kelly Cooper-Slayton - Secretary Karl Heckman - Treasurer Kristy Schnabel - Virtual Assistant They all did a wonderful job!
Lastly, I want to welcome my new team: Bob Renggli - President Elect Miriam Vareldzis - Treasurer Kay Fontana - Secretary Carolyn Newman - Marketing Director Feroshia Knight - Programs Co-Chair Colleen Bourassa - Programs Co-Chair Pauline Marchand - Membership Co-Chair Jill Stryker - Membership Co-Chair Louise Feddema - Virtual Assistant Ronnie Noize - Immediate Past President
This is a strong team and I look forward to working with each of them for your benefit.
Warmly, Dave Wagers NWCA 2007 President
NWCA MEMBERSHIP CONNECTIONS - January 2007
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At the Christmas Party, Peter Ayers and Karl Heckman were reminiscing about the various locations we have had the Holiday Party in recently: 2003, Portland City Hall meeting room; 2004, Montgomery Park 3rd Floor; 2005 & 06, Holiday Inn Express. Each year the gift exchange gets more entertaining. How many gifts get "frozen" in that frenzied sharing?
The Membership post and presence has changed over the years and today we are passing along a refined system with a full roster of 97 members. A BIG BIG THANK YOU to all the leadership team who have faithfully collaborated in making our trademark WELCOME so inviting and sustaining for new members. It is very heartening indeed, to introduce next year's Membership Team: Pauline Marchand and Jill Stryker.
Message From Jill:
My name is Jill Stryker and I attended my first NWCA Meeting in November this year. I was so caught up in the enthusiasm and impressed by my conversation with Ronnie, that I agreed to serve as Membership Co-Chair beginning in January.
I received my Masters Education in 1978 and taught for 15 years. In 1993 I left teaching to help my husband create a business model for his dental practice, with a focus on hiring and training talented staff.
Continuous learning and growing, both for myself and others, is my passion and I am currently working on my Coaching Certification at Hudson Institute.
I am really looking forward to getting to know the Leadership Team and each of you. See you in January!

NWCA PROGRAMS: JANUARY 2007
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MEETING DETAILS
PRE-MEETING WORKSHOP (5:45pm NOTE: NEW START TIME!!!!)
Maori Indian Symbolic Healing Facilitated by Carolyn Newman, M.Ed., CADC Join Carolyn and learn a metaphorical, interactive coaching tool designed to facilitate inner knowing that can be use in your own practice for renewal or new beginnings in a client relationship.
The Maori Indian Symbolic Healing is a traditional ceremony performed on one's birthday by the MAORI INDIANS OF NEW ZEALAND. During the ceremony the Maori will find a place in nature and sweep it as tall and as wide as they are and draw symbols into it while a medicine man stands by as witness. A very powerful tool of inner working, this exercise will reveal where one is spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically.
NWCA VISION: Coaching is a known and respected profession for maximizing human potential.
MAIN MEETING (7:15pm)
As we manifest the NWCA Vision into 2007 we have an exciting year planned ahead. In alignment with the ICF's efforts to promote the coaching industry we are excited to have Ray Redburn facilitating an Open Space Technology "NW COACHES THINK TANK" event for our main meeting.
YOU are vital to this process! By participating:
YOU can shape the success of NWCA to deliver relevant, impactful programs that help you to achieve your desired outcomes with your coaching practice
YOU can assist NWCA to work with the ICF to develop and implement a local outreach/public relation campaign in promotion of the coaching industry.
YOUR ideas will be put into motion!
Lastly, YOU will experientially learn how to faciliate an Open Space Technology process to use in your own practice!
Let NWCA give back TO YOU - WHAT YOU WANT!
Sincerely, Programs Team: Colleen Bourassa Feroshia Knight
TREASURY NOTES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In 2006 we started several new processes for the treasurer, one being the rolling annual membership. With that change a new database of membership information has been formed. This causes us to use information that in the past hasn't been necessary. Mostly this will revolve around your membership renewal date.
Please remember that any SNAFU's that occur due to these changes are my gaffs and not Miriams'! I have every confidence that she will improve the system I have handed her.
With that I pass the baton of the treasury to the capable hands of Miriam Valredzis. It has been an honor to serve as your treasurer for the past year.
We are using a new system to remind each other when our annual membership is ready to be renewed. Please assist us by making sure your email preferences allow to receive emails from the treasurer and let her know of any changes to your contact or membership information. Thank you for your kind assistance!
Prosperity for all in 2007 Karl Heckman
Message from our new Treasurer
This past year was quite a whirlwind, with profound changes for many of us and much new groundwork has been laid, paving the way for our continued personal evolution. Yippee!
Personal Evolution.
I just love that phrase. It is so descriptive of what goes on in our lives: whether we begin an exercise program for the evolution of our health, take a clear look at our career to evolve our fulfillment and livelihood, or choose to increase humor & lightness for the evolution of our relationships. As part of my own personal evolution, I have joined the Leadership Team of the NW Coaches Association as Treasurer! I am thrilled to be a part of such a dynamic group. I've noticed a lot of laughter and can't wait to get started. Happy New Year.
Miriam Vareldzis 2007 NWCA Treasurer

OUTGOING VA INTRODUCES NEW VA
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As the NW Coaches outgoing virtual assistant (VA), I'd like to introduce your new VA: Louise Feddema. She'll be creating and updating your web profiles among other things, and will be the smile behind the mailto:help@nwcoaches.org email address.
Louise has a background in art history and fine arts. She's been a CFO, COO, and has run a few businesses. She loves working on all sorts of projects and jokes that she's a "filing savant." She particularly enjoys graphic design projects.
In her own words, "About a year ago I became a virtual assistant, and formed Your Virtual Assistant, LLC. This has enabled me to work on a wide variety of projects and to meet some very talented people, from all over the world; I work from home, I do not have employees to supervise, and I choose the kinds of things I do."
Louise is in Great Britain over the holidays teaching a class, and looks forward to working with you come January!
It's been a pleasure to work with you!
Warm regards, Kristy Schnabel Virtual Assistant to NWCA mailto:help@nwcoaches.org
MESSAGE FROM PAST PRESIDENT 2005
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The very essence of leadership is that you have to have vision. You can't blow an uncertain trumpet. ~ Theodore M. Hesburgh
As Past President last year, I have watched our leadership team truly sparkle with energy and commitment to the members of the NWCA, our many guests, and to the profession itself. No one was more sparkly and committed than Ronnie! What a tremendous job she did last year - she delegated effectively, she allowed input from her entire team, she held and communicated the vision and mission of the NWCA well and thoughtfully. Can you tell I'm impressed? Please join me in thanking all of the leaders of our organization, especially Ronnie. And to the new President, Dave and his team for 2007: I have the utmost faith that this year will continue to build on all that has grown from last year's greatness.
To the members of the NWCA and all coaches: behavior matters. Do the right thing. Have faith in your purpose and in yourself. And continue to make a difference in the world.
Warmly,
Victoria Trabosh Past President 2005
